If you desire a Special Setting, press one of
the following buttons:
pieces you may need to make the toast
setting darker than you normally would.
Very thick pieces may require two cycles.
USE AND CARE
Unwind the power cord. Check that the
crumb tray is in place and that there is
nothing in the toaster slot. Plug power cord
into the wall outlet.
Defrost - for defrosting, then toasting.
Adds time to the standard toast cycle for
defrosting.
Before toasting bagels, slice into two
equal halves.
Reheat - for reheating pretoasted bread.
1. Insert slice(s) of bread.
Be sure that the bread carriage is in the
up position.
When toasting raisin breads, fruit breads,
or fruit muffins, remove any loose fruit, etc.
from the surface of the bread before placing
into the toaster. This will help prevent pieces
from falling into the toaster or sticking on the
guard wires in the slot.
When you press one of these Special
Settings, a red LED light will come on above
the selected feature button.
2. Set the Browning Control.
Turn the rotary browning dial to the
desired position. Toast gets darker as
the dial is turned clockwise from left to
right. The browning dial can be adjusted
either before or after pressing down the
Start / Carriage Lever.
5. To Stop Toasting.
When the toasting cycle is finished, the
toast will be raised. If you wish to stop the
cycle before it is finished, simply press the
Cancel Button. You can also lift up the
Start / Carriage Lever to stop the cycle.
Pressing the Cancel Button will also
cancel the Special Settings.
A single slice of toast requires less toasting
time than two slices of bread. To prevent
overtoasting of a single slice, set the
browning control to a lighter setting than
you normally would. Each chamber is
designed for 2 slices of bread. By lowering
the toasting time for a single slice, your
bread won't get too brown.
Helpful Browning Notes:
Toasting is a combination of cooking and dry-
ing the bread. Therefore, differences in mois-
ture level from one bread to another can
result in varying toasting times.
Notes on Specialty Uses:
Toaster Pastries:
Exercise caution with toaster pastries; the
filling can become quite hot long before the
surface of the pastry becomes browned.
A lighter setting should be adequate. Never
leave toaster pastries unattended while
toasting or warming. Avoid iced pastries.
The icing can melt onto inside of toaster or
burn easily.
There is a color band around the dial to
select the browning setting.
For slightly dry bread, use a lighter setting
than you normally would.
The browning guide is as follows:
Desired Color
Dial Position
Light
1st third of color band
For very fresh bread or whole wheat
bread, use a darker setting than normal.
Dense, moist breads may also require a
darker setting.
Medium
Dark
2nd third of color band
Final third of color band
Muffins:
Require longer toasting time than regular
breads. Slice muffins vertically and remove
paper wrapper before toasting.
3. Begin Toasting.
Press the Start / Carriage Lever down until
it locks into position. The toaster will start.
Breads with very uneven surfaces (such as
English muffins) will require a higher (darker)
browning setting.
English Muffins & Thick
4. If desired, Select a Special Setting on the
button control after the Start / Carriage
Lever is pushed down. If no Special
Settings are selected, the toaster will
brown your toast based on the selection
you have made on the browning dial.
Sliced Breads:
Thickly cut pieces of bread (including bagels)
will take longer to toast, sometimes signifi-
cantly longer, since more moisture must be
evaporated from the bread before toasting
can occur. For moister breads or very thick
Require longer toasting time than regular
breads. We suggest that you increase the
darkness setting on the browning dial to
increase the toasting time.

To stop cycle:
We recommend that thick slices be kept to a
maximum of 1-1/4".
Never insert hard objects into the
toasting slot.
When the Reheat Cycle is complete, the
toaster will raise the bread. If you wish to stop
the cycle before it is finished, simply press
the Cancel Button to interrupt or lift
up on the Start/Carriage Lever.
Thick sliced Italian or Portuguese loaves
normally require a lighter shade control
setting than other thick sliced breads.
After use, unplug your toaster from the
electrical outlet.
SPECIAL SETTINGS
Long Slices of Bread:
If your bread slice is so long that a toaster
slot can only accommodate a single slice, we
suggest that you set the browning control to
a lighter setting than you normally would.
Defrost Button
The Defrost Button is designed to first defrost
and then toast the bread, which extends the
toasting cycle slightly.
Croissants:
1. Insert slice(s) of bread:
Be sure the carriage is in the up position.
Croissants should not be more than 5" long.
Slice in half horizontally. Use a light to
medium setting for toasting.
2. Set the Browning Control:
Select desired browning with rotary
browning dial.
Frozen Breads
The following breads and pastries should
be defrosted and warmed using the Defrost
button:
3. Press the Start / Carriage Lever down
until it locks into position.
4. Press the Defrost button.
The LED will illuminate when this feature
is selected.
CLEANING AND
MAINTENANCE
Frozen Waffles, Pancakes, French Toast
and Bagels:
Press the Defrost button when defrosting and
toasting waffles, pancakes, french toast and
bagel halves. For best results, use a few
toasting cycles at a low setting. A longer
toasting time can result in waffles, pancakes
or french toast that are toasted on the
outside but cool or soggy on the inside.
Always allow the toaster to cool completely
before cleaning.
To stop cycle:
When the Defrost Cycle is complete, the
toaster will raise the bread. If you wish to stop
the cycle before it is finished, simply press
the Cancel Button to interrupt.
1. Always unplug the toaster from the
electrical outlet.
2. Do not use abrasive cleansers. Simply
wipe the exterior with a clean damp cloth
and dry thoroughly. Apply any cleansing
agent to a cloth, not to the toaster, before
cleaning.
Reheat Button
Tips:
The Reheat feature allows you to reheat
toasted bread without browning.
Never force foods into the Toasting Slot.
Foods should fit freely between the guard
wires.
1. Insert slice(s) of bread:
Be sure that the carriage is in the
up position.
3. To remove crumbs, slide out the Crumb
Tray and discard crumbs. Wipe clean and
replace. Never operate the toaster without
the Crumb Tray in place.
Do not place buttered breads or frosted
pastries in the toaster, as this could
create a fire hazard.
2. Press the Start / Carriage Lever down
until it locks into position.
Uneven toasting is usually due to bread slices
of uneven thickness.
3. Press the Reheat Button.
5

4. To remove any pieces of bread remaining
in the toaster, turn the toaster upside
down and gently shake. Never insert any
hard or sharp instruments into the slot, as
this could damage the toaster and cause
a safety hazard.
